Indoor Air Problems
Ventilation, Filtration, and Purification are the friends of good air quality. Here are the enemies of poor air quality:
Biological Growth (Mold)
The longer biological growths, such as molds, are permitted to thrive, the harder they are to remove. These growths present dangerous health risks that you do not see or smell, and can be present within your building. Having a certified professional, like Blue Dot, test and analyze the air in your building is one way to determine if you have an issue or have conditions that may lead to a biological growth problem in the future.
Humidity & Water Leaks
Although they may seem to be a minor inconvenience, a water leak or humidity issue can lead to large-scale remediation and damage to your building if not properly addressed. Bad humidity can cause problems with equipment, such as printers, and cause severe static issues. When left unchecked, too much humidity can add to your utility costs. For air conditioning units to remove moisture, they have to cool the air to very low temperatures (cold air holds less moisture). Once that low temperature has been reached, the air is heated to reach a comfortable degree. Blue Dot can show you how to reduce the need for reheating through demand-based ventilation, where the volume of ventilation air is controlled based on the number of people in the space.
Air Infiltration
Air infiltration can destroy the performance of ventilation systems. It adds to the quantity of air entering the building and may distort the intended airflow pattern. This can lead to poor overall indoor air quality and comfort, and be highly inefficient as well. Air inevitably enters a building, but preventable air infiltration can be minimized with testing and analysis. Contact Blue Dot for air infiltration testing.
